2026 ProKart Challenge Resumes with Exciting Races

The 2026 ProKart Challenge kicked off its second half at Sonoma Raceway on August 15-16. This round marked the fourth of the season, taking place on the ‘Reverse National’ layout. Perfect weather conditions welcomed nearly 160 participants across 11 categories, making it the largest field of the season. Excitement filled the air as drivers and teams prepared for intense competition.

KA100 Senior Highlights

The KA100 Senior category, presented by Hayner Racing Team, featured a remarkable 43 drivers. Stephen Eisert, leveraging his local knowledge, secured pole position with a qualifying time of 48.480 seconds. This achievement marked his third top qualifier honor of the season, narrowly edging out Sebastian Hauser and Jake Drew. The Prefinal saw Drew lead for most of the race, ultimately winning after Eisert slipped back in the final lap.

In the 22-lap Final, Chase Hand quickly climbed from eighth to second by lap eight, trailing Drew. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Hand overtook Drew on the last lap, claiming his first victory of the season. Drew finished second, while Flavio Aquini secured third place, edging out Archer Eversman and Matthew Cagle.

Pro Shifter Action

The Pro Shifter category, sponsored by Axis Kartsport, introduced a new winner to the season. Jesus Vasquez Jr. topped the qualifying charts with a time of 43.195 seconds. In the Prefinal, Jacob Gulick surged from third to first on the opening lap, but Musgrave regained control by lap five. Vasquez eventually took the lead in the Final, maintaining it to achieve his first career victory in the Pro Shifter class.

Musgrave finished 1.7 seconds behind in second place, while Gulick rounded out the podium in third. Massimo Valiante, who had a challenging Prefinal, managed to recover to fourth in the Final, showcasing his resilience.

KA100 Junior Results

Braydon Wagner, who finished third in Round Three, started strong in the KA100 Junior category presented by Nash Motorsportz with a quick qualifying time of 49.512 seconds. Mateo Calderon, who won Round Three, was sixth in qualifying but quickly took the lead in the Prefinal. He led until the end, finishing ahead of Daniel Ramirez and Wagner.

The Final saw Calderon leading for 21 laps, but Ramirez made a last-lap pass to secure his first career victory. Calderon finished second, while Wagner completed the podium. Diesel Biezonsky and Cason Hodge followed closely behind in fourth and fifth, respectively.

KA100 Master and FZ125 Senior

Ryan Casner continued his impressive streak in the KA100 Master category, presented by Precision Karting. After sweeping Round Three, he began Round Four by qualifying second behind Denis Dumanov. Casner dominated the Prefinal and led the Final from start to finish, marking his second victory of the season.

In the FZ125 Senior division, Theo Kekati showcased his skills by leading throughout the weekend. He set the fastest qualifying time of 45.535 seconds and won both the Prefinal and Final, finishing with a seven-second lead. Mathew McCoy and Xander Malatesta battled for second place, with McCoy ultimately taking the position.

Other Notable Performances

  • James Skyers achieved his fourth consecutive win in FZ125 Master, dominating the weekend.
  • Asher Biezonsky swept the FZ65 Mini Shifter category, winning both races convincingly.
  • Diesel Biezonsky led in the FZ85 Junior category but retired, allowing Mati Dragan to claim victory.
  • Aidan Go made an impressive debut in Mini Swift, winning all races during the event.
  • In Micro Swift, Braxton Shiflett captured his first win after a thrilling battle.

The second half of the 2026 ProKart Challenge season is set to continue at various tracks, with Round Five scheduled for September 12-13 at the Spring Mountain Karting Complex in Pahrump, Nevada.
