The Cascadia Karting Cup registration opens on August 3, inviting racers to participate in an exciting event at Pat’s Acres Racing Complex. This inaugural event, presented by Shinko Racing Kart Tires, will take place from October 2-4. It promises to be a thrilling weekend, celebrating the sport of karting as the fall season begins in the Pacific Northwest.
Cascadia Karting Cup Event Details
The Cascadia Karting Cup will feature a unique three-day format. On Friday, October 2, participants can enjoy a practice day, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the track. Official racing activities will commence on Saturday, October 3, with warm-ups, qualifying sessions, and three heat races for all classes. The main events will take place on Sunday, October 4, ensuring a packed schedule for all competitors.
Andy Seesemann, owner of FTK Promotions, emphasizes the importance of track time. He assures that all categories will have ample racing laps over the weekend. This structure allows competitors to finish their races by 3:30 PM local time, with podium ceremonies scheduled for 4 PM. Therefore, participants can pack up and head home at a reasonable hour.
Registration Process and Fees
Registration for the Cascadia Karting Cup will open on August 3, with an entry fee of $375 for the Saturday and Sunday events. This fee includes a driver’s pass, which is essential for participation. Each competitor must also purchase a set of race tires with their entry. Moreover, participants are allowed to practice with their race tires if they wish.
Pat’s Acres Racing Complex will manage Friday practice fees and oversee reserved pit spots and camping arrangements. A special offer is available for those who prefer to pay cash at the event. Competitors can secure their entry with a $100 reserve fee paid by credit card. However, they must pay the remaining balance in cash during the event. If they use any other payment method, a late fee of $125 will apply.
Classes and Competition Format
The Cascadia Karting Cup will feature 10 classes, showcasing both 2-cycle and 4-cycle competitions. This format is similar to that of the Challenge of the Americas and other regional divisions. The Briggs & Stratton 206 engine will be utilized in four classes across Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Masters age groups.
In addition, six classes will feature various engine formats for different age groups. For example, the 60cc Cadet, 100cc Junior, 100cc Senior, and 100cc Masters classes will include engines from manufacturers such as IAME, Vortex, and X Series. The Shifter Light and Shifter Heavy classes will allow KZ models and ROK Shifter engines.
Tire Regulations and Equipment
All competitors in the Cascadia Karting Cup will race on Shinko Racing Kart Tires. The 4-cycle categories and the 60cc Cadet class will use the Shinko SHS63 (Green) compound. In contrast, the remaining five 2-cycle divisions will compete on the Shinko CIK Prime (Yellow) compound.
